Susan is initiated as a Firekeeper and has facilitated monthly Sacred Fires since 2003. Currently, Susan serves on the Board of Trustees of Sacred Fire an international community service organization dedicated to reconnecting people to each other and spirit through the gift of Fire and Firekeeping. Since 2021, she has served on the Kawiterutsixi (Kawitero) Council of elders for the medicine group, Grupo Tatewari and is also initiated as a Granicera or Quiatizque (Weather Shaman) in the Nahua tradition indigenous to Central Mexico. Besides being a traditional shamanic healer, Susan is a ceremonial leader that practices and lives with her husband, family, and community at The Farm in Summertown and also practices in Nashville, Tennessee.
Susan began her healing practice as a Plant Spirit Medicine practitioner and continues as an initiated Mara'akame in the tradition of the Wixárika (Huichol) people of Mexico. Susan has maintained her practice in middle Tennessee for over twenty years, dedicated to initiating healthy transformation in the lives of people so they can better align with the natural cycles of life and face our inevitable challenges with balance and courage.
